Ryu was the second Ancient Warrior who showed himself to Zach and his friends. He has both an adult form and an innocent Chibi form (sometimes called Chibi Ryu). He wanted to be evil, just to prove he was strong, but Kitt convinced him being strong doesn't mean he has to be evil. People are even stronger if they say no to evil! When he realised this, Ryu wanted to join Zach and his friends, but was killed by Courage.
Within the group, Ryu was often ridiculed; especially by Courage. Tempus had some respect for him, seeing his potential. Even though he was stronger than Aletheia, he was lower in rank than the Woman of Truth.
After Ryu died, he felt he was finally free. When he found out Courage wanted to open up a shop in the After Life (see: Silent Threat series; specials 41 till 50), he visited her. Ryu thought it was the most stupid idea he had ever heard, but did visit a few more times. Hades, the God of the Underworld/After Life, carelessly mentioned Ryu would visit her for other reasons, but Courage was horrified by that idea. Yet, the two hang out more and more now...
