Mika and Moka’s Angels

It was late at night as the moon shined bright over a white house. The phone inside the house started to ring. Very sleepy, a boy picked up the handle of the phone.
“Hello?” The boy softly asked.
“Rocket Stevo! What are you doing sleeping?” A voice from the phone said.
“Cause I’m tired and I just finished my chemistry homework.” Rocket Stevo replied, “So I’m going to sleep now and…”
“No you aren’t!” The voice yelled out, “We have something to plan remember? Now stay awake and meet us outside.”
The phone clicked off and Rocket Stevo grumbled to himself. “Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to do this.”
Outside, two girls waited by a lamppost. One had brown hair looking at her watch and the other with brown skin was playing a game on her mega cellphone.
“Grrr! I’m going to kill that boy!” The brown hair girl growled, “I’m missing my beauty sleep.”
“RB,” The brown skin girl said, “How come we have to do this when the police can do the protecting around here?”
“Look! I didn’t agree on this either Kem.” RB said, “Someone told me we have to do this otherwise something will happen to her.”
At that moment, Rocket Stevo arrived out of breath. “Sorry! I had to be quiet so the neighbour's dog wouldn’t chase me around.”
“Cut the chat, we've got business to do.” RB said.
The three went to a house and watched through a window. There an orange haired girl went to sleep very happy as she hugged her pink puppy doll. The three sat on a branch of a tree near the house.
“Okay! She’s safe!” Rocket Stevo said, “Can we go to sleep?”
“No!” RB smacked him, “We are going to stay here so she will be safe. You don’t want anything to happen to her, do you?”
“But Rini, we have been here for 4 hours. It’s about three o’ clock in the morning.” Kem yawned looking at her watch.
“We are going to stay here no matter what.” RB growled, “Even if you leave, you won’t be able to go to sleep.”
Kem and Rocket Stevo groaned, but did what they were told and watched the girl sleeping peacefully in her bed.
It was morning, when the girl woke up from her bed. “That was a good sleep. Strange that I thought I heard noises in the background.”
“Mika!” A voice said, “Time for breakfast.”
“Okay Mom!” Mika replied and got dressed. As she opened her window, she saw two girls sleeping next to each other and a boy hanging upside down on the branch. “Huh? RB, Kem, and Rocket Stevo?”
At that moment, RB woke up and saw Mika staring at them. “Ack Mika!” When she got scared, RB fell back onto the branch and it crack off. All three of them crashed down.
“Oh my!” Mika cried as she went down the stairs and out of her house. “Are you okay?”
“Oo! The colours!” Kem dizzy replied as she tried to get up.
“What were you guys doing in the tree?” Mika asked.
“Um…er…” Rocket Stevo tried to say, but RB pushed him away.
“We decide to come early to walk with you to school.” RB said.
“Oh! That’s nice!” Mika squealed, “Hey why don’t you come in for breakfast. Mom is making pancakes with strawberry.”
“Okay!” Kem and RB said, while Rocket Stevo just sighed to himself.
At Montana High School, Mister Howards was getting ready for his class. All the kids were going wild. RB sat down her desk and took out her make up kit. Kem sat next to her desk and pulled out her teen magazine.
“Hey, did you hear that the boy from the Atom Teens has a girlfriend?” Kem asked RB.
RB looked so surprised that she dropped her lipstick on the floor. “What!?” Kem nodded her head. RB sighed, “There goes a boy who I wanted to go out with.”
At that moment, Rocket Stevo walked into the room and looked very tired. As he reached his desk, he flopped his head down onto it. Before RB could ask what was wrong with him, snoring came from Rocket Stevo and started to mumble.
Mika came into the classroom and saw Rocket Stevo sleeping. “What time does he sleep? This has been the fourth time he has done this.”
“Who knows? He might be partying all night.” Kem said returning back to her magazine.
A loud noise of Mister Howards slamming his ruler onto his desk got everyone’s attention. “Okay everyone, get into your seats and take out the book, Of Bears and Boys.”
At that moment, a boy with black hair came in. “Hello Mister Howards, this boy I was talking about.”
Kem giggled, “Wow, he reminds me of Leon from Atom Teens. So cute!”
“Oh yeah! He is really cute!” RB squealed.
“Hi! My name is Moka!” The boy replied and wrote his name on the blackboard.
“Okay Moka!” Mister Howards said, “Why don’t you sit behind Mika.”
As Moka walk passed Kem, she suddenly sensed something about him. ‘What is this feeling about him?’ Kem thought, ‘It is if he is after someone, but who? Could he be the one?’
A loud slam hit the desk of Rocket Stevo. “Mister Stevo, if you cannot stay awake, sleep at home.”
Rocket Stevo rubbed his eyes and looked up. “Oh Mister Howards, I…I was resting my eyes.”
“See me after class, Mister Stevo and don’t bother making excuses.”
At the end of School, Kem got RB and Rocket Stevo together behind the school building.
“I’m going to crush your neck!” Rocket Stevo gritted his teeth at RB, “I had to sat through Mister Howards’ lecture about sleep. Do you know how boring that is?!”
“Cut it out!” Kem said slapping his head, but Rocket Stevo grabbed her hand.
“I am not going to be bossed around by you two and get into trouble. You know what Mister Howards wants…”
“Shut Up!” RB said and grabbed his mouth before he can speak. “Okay so what’s up Kem?”
Kem looked worried that she started to fiddle with her fingers. “I just got this strange sense about this Moka guy. It’s just something about him.”
“Well there is something very bizarre about him.” RB said, “He seems very popular and always smiling. Even when the janitor spilled water on him, he still smiled. Never even cursed at all at him.”
Rocket Stevo took RB’s hand off his mouth. “Hey look, it’s Mika.”
The two girls turn around and saw Mika walking sadly by herself.
“You think it was wise to tell her we were busy with all the activities you said we were doing?” Rocket Stevo asked.
“Yes, it was the only way!” Kem said, “Since when are you so caring?”
“Since when are you so ugly?” Rocket Stevo snapped back.
As Kem and Rocket Stevo were fighting with each other, RB noticed Moka following behind Mika watching her. “Hey, stop it you guys! Check this out!” RB whispered to her friends.
“Not until he apologised for calling me ugly.” Kem said punching Rocket Stevo in the stomach.
“Well I’m not caring to that prissy girl.” Rocket Stevo yelled back and pulled Kem’s hair.
After much time has gone by, RB was starting to get tired of the two fighting. She grabbed Rocket Stevo and dragged him, while Kem smacking him on the head.
The phone rang and RB picked it up slowly. “You got the message?” RB asked into the receiver.
“Yeah!” Rocket Stevo softly replied, “Who would thought that would happen to Mika.”
“Could you hold on? Kem is about to come on.” RB said and pushed a button.
“Hey….” Kem replied sounding a bit sad.
“Hey….” Rocket Stevo and RB said.
“You don’t think Moka had anything to do with this?” Kem asked.
“I’m not sure!” RB said, “When we arrived, Mika was crying onto his arm and Moka was comforting her.”
“Isn’t it weird though?” Rocket Stevo said.
“What? You mean Moka?” Kem said.
“I mean the fact when he arrived at our school, Mika’s parents were killed in that fire.” Rocket Stevo replied.
“Interesting.” RB said, “Maybe there is something about Moka that we don’t know.”
“Like maybe he has the power of fire?” Kem said, “Yeah right! I don’t think Moka is a flaming torch person.”
“Maybe, but who knows how unusual this boy is.” Rocket Stevo said.
All three agreed and tried to figure out what they should do about it for tomorrow.
All three arrived at Mika’s house and rang the bell. Nothing had happened and no one came to the door. Rocket Stevo rang the bell again and a piece of board from the roof fell on him.
“Are you kids looking for a girl in that house?” An old man from next door asked.
“Yes!” RB said, “Do you know where she is?”
The old man rubbed his chin trying to think. “Well when the fire was put out, uh…oh yeah! A boy offered to take her back to his house since they were both friends. They just passed by here on their way to school.”
“Then we'd better go! School starts in a few minutes!” Rocket Stevo said.
When school class ended, Rocket Stevo waited outside of RB’s classroom. “Sorry about that!” RB said as she peeked out of the classroom. “I’m almost done with my violin class.”
“I thought you were lying about that last time.” Rocket Stevo asked.
“Well today the music teacher thought I was very good at the violin that she thought I should take this class.”
“Well that’s cool. The same thing happened when the coach saw me playing basketball very good so that I got on the team.” Rocket Stevo smiled.
“Cool! I’ll be right back after I teach a kid how to play the C scale.” RB said.
“Gotcha!” Rocket Stevo said, “I’ll wait for Mika here.”
As RB left, Mika arrived around the corner. “Hey Stevo!” Mika said as she sat down beside him.
“Hey!”
After a little while, Rocket Stevo spoke up. “Hey! I’m sorry for making those stupid jokes, Mika.”
“It’s okay!”
“Sorry about your parents too. I really liked it when your mother made us those pancakes and….”
Without warning, Mika plunged her face onto Rocket Stevo’s shoulder. “Oh Stevo, I don’t what I’m going to do. My parents are gone, my house burned down, and my pink dress for this year’s prom turned into dust. I don’t deserve my life right now.”
Putting his arm around Mika’s shoulder, Rocket Stevo sighed and tried to figure out a way to comfort Mika. “Don’t worry Mika! Even though your parents are gone, we’re still here. Me, RB, and Kem will always be here. Also Moka will take care of you and provide all the help you need. We promise we will do whatever to keep you happy.”
“You will?”
Rocket Stevo nodded, “We will, Mika! Promised!”
All of a sudden, Kem arrived and saw the two on the floor. “Okay, what did you do Rocket Stevo?”
“Nothing I…”
“He cheered me up!” Mika said and hugged Rocket Stevo.
“Awe! The little boy had a softy side.” Kem joked, “You two should get married!”
“Oh heck no! You’ve got a weird mind, Kem!” Rocket Stevo said blushing.
Mika laughed, “It’s okay! That was sweet of you!”
“You guys ready?” RB said as she got out of her class.
“Yep!” Mika said as she wrapped her arms around her friends, “I’m happy to be with my best friends forever.”
All of them walk out of the school building looking forward to staying friends forever. Mostly Mika was happy to have friends till the very end. They didn’t notice a gray cat watching them go. It meowed very happy and then went off.
