Zach and Kitt walked through the city. Zach noticed Kitt had been really quiet since they entered the city, but he decided to let her be. Kitt looked around and suddenly spotted a bench. She stopped.

"Something wrong?" Zach asked.

Kitt smiled. "No nothing. Could you do the grocery alone this time?"

Zach thought a moment. "Sure." He answered and walked away.

Kitt sat down on the bench. "Only one year ago...."

A month had passed since Kitt joined a motor gang. She didn't had her own bike, but she was chosen to ride with the leader of the gang. Kitt felt that would be a great honour and held closely to him. However, something was missing inside of her.

The wind stroke her hair gently while she and Derak drove through the city. Derak stopped before a small grocery store.

"Wait here sweetie." He said to Kitt. "I'll be right back."

Derak and some gang members went into the shop. Kitt knew what would happen. The owner should be happy if something was still there after them.

Kitt blew a little bubble with gum and looked around. Suddenly, she spotted a bench. On the bench sat a silent girl with a cat on her lap. The cat was white with grey striped and enjoyed the stroking of the girl. For a moment, Kitt knew what she was missing in her life, but she forgot it again the moment Derak burst out of the store. She saw he had his pockets filled with candy.

Kitt looked back. The girl was gone, as well as the cat.

"What are you looking at Kitt?" Derak asked. "Is that bench more interesting than I am?"

"No."

"Then hop up, or do you want to stay here until the police comes?"

Kitt quickly jumped behind and the gang drove away.

That night, in the hideout, Kitt looked at the stars. She crawled into her small and cold bed, and closed her eyes.

Kitt fell asleep quickly, and she dreamed that she was at her old house again, looking at the stars. All of a sudden, they seemed so close and Kitt stretched her arms so that she could reach them. She knew it was foolish to try, but wouldn't it be magnificent to touch them once?

At that moment, it seemed as if the stars all fell down. Kitt screamed, though she couldn't hear her voice. All the stars danced around her and Kitt didn't knew where she was. It looked if she was in the galaxy!

She looked back. Yes, there was the earth! "I'm between the stars." Kitt noticed. "Now this is one awesome dream!"

Kitt wanted to touch a star, but just before she could touch it, it faded and died. Kitt was shocked, but when she looked before her, she saw that girl from the bench! The cat was gone, but she was there! In her dream!

"Who are you?" Kitt asked.

The girl smiled friendly. "Don't worry. My name is Tiamat."

"Who?" Kitt asked again.

"Tiamat."  Tiamat walked at Kitt. "I'm the Guardian of Dreams. I can make your dream come true."

"Really?"

Tiamat nodded and suddenly changed into a dragon. Kitt was startled, and a little voice in her head suddenly said: 'Hop on.'

Kitt hesitated, until she heard the same telepathic voice. 'Are you afraid?'

"No way!" Kitt said and crawled between the wings.

Tiamat lifted off and Kitt held close to the scale-skin. Terrified, she kept her eyes closed.

'Open your eyes.' She heard Tiamat say.

Kitt opened her eyes and saw the stars among her. She was flying, flying between the stars! Kitt stretched her arms and let it flow on the wind.

Her arms closed again and she saw what was in it. A little soft sparkling star. A little tear of happiness appeared in her eye. She had touched the stars. Kitt let the star go to appear between his friends again.

'What do you think?' Tiamat asked.

"This is one hell of a dream!" Kitt exclaimed.

After a while, Tiamat landed again. The planet they had landed on was cold and dark. "Why are we here Tiamat?" Kitt asked.

Tiamat returned to her old self. "This is where I live."

"Kinda... dark." Kitt noticed.

Tiamat smiled. "Yes it is." She replied. "But that is just for outsiders. Open your heart Kitt."

Kitt didn't knew what to do and closed her eyes. She thought deeply. Carefully, she opened one eye and suddenly she saw that the planet was full of light and all around them were coloured bubbles.

Kitt was amazed. "Wow.... What are those bubbles?"

"We only own the shadows of our lives." Tiamat answered.

Kitt was puzzled. "I don't understand."

Tiamat explained. "A shadow is something you cannot touch. You also can't touch a dream, but it's always there, just like your shadow."

"Oh...." Kitt saw a small pink bubble. "So these bubbles represent dreams." Tiamat nodded. "Who's dreams are this?"

Tiamat suddenly looked a bit depressed. Kitt apologised. "No need to. In that bubble, I keep the dreams of the girl I used to be, before I became a guardian."

"Where are my dreams?" Kitt asked.

Tiamat pointed back.

Happily, Kitt turned around, but she only saw a black ball, lying on the ground. "These are my dreams?" She asked with a trembling voice. It felt like there was something beating in there.

Tiamat nodded. "You know what that shell is?" Kitt shook her head. "That, my dear Kitt, is Derak. He controls your dreams." Tiamat laid her hand on Kitt's shoulder and whispered in her ear. "Never forget who you are Kitty...."

Kitt woke up, bathing in sweat. She sighed deeply. This was the weirdest dream ever!

Tiamat carefully laid the black ball on the ground. When she looked up, she saw a young girl. "Why are you here?" She asked.

The girl looked at Tiamat. "I know who you are." She said. Tiamat closed her eyes.

"I know." She replied.

The girl showed a little crystal heart. "I'm Liz Green, the Soldier of Dreams."

The next day, Kitt joined Derak again on his bike. After a while, he spotted some kids. "Hey gang, wanna have some fun?"

Derak and his gang crossed around the kids. One of the kids tried to protect her little brother, who cried.

Derak ordered the gang to stop. Kitt stepped off the bike. Suddenly, she heard a crystal clear voice in her head. 'Never forget who you are....'

Kitt saw one of the gang-members taking the lollipop from the little boy. Kitt slowly became furious and walked at the guy. She grabbed the lollipop from him and smacked him hard against the ground.

At the same moment, the black ball shattered into pieces and a bright blue sparkling light escaped.

Kitt gave the lollipop back to the boy and at the same time, Derak grabbed Kitt. "What do you think you are doing?"

"Forget it Derak!" Kitt yelled. "I own my shadows, not you!"

"What are you babbling?"

Kitt pulled herself lose. "What do you think I'm saying? I'm leaving!" Kitt walked away, and Derak wanted to follow her, but he heard sirens from policemen.

"I'll get back for you Kitt!" He yelled while he jumped on his bike. "I own you, and those freaking shadows of you!" He drove away.

Kitt smiled and walked away. Her dreams where her dreams again and there was a completely new and bright world before her.

Kitt saw Zach was coming back with the groceries. Suddenly, her hand touched something. Kitt took it. That she hadn't noticed it before! It was a small crystal cat-bell. "Thanks Tiamat." She whispered. "You saved my soul...."

The end.
